The first race round of the Premoza Ute Racing Series 2025 was held on the 12 April at Lakeside Park North Brisbane.

A new format for lakeside with a 1-day race meet to get the 2025 season underway.

Was a semi wet Qualifying with very challenging conditions, some drivers got their heads around the conditions and set some quick times for a wet track. Some drivers did struggle to get a clean lap in and the results did vary up and won the field.

In the V8’s AJ Gearly took out pole by very healthy margin.

The Production Class had John Young taking pole position for the class.

V8 Pole AJ Gealy

Production Ute Pole John Young

RACE 1

In a wet race one AJ Gealy in the FG V8 Falcon lead from flag to flag and was in a class of his own and took out the win in style.

In the Production Utes John Young held on to take the win, with Craig Kasper and Troy Montgomerie very close behind. Was some very cool racing in the production class in some very challenging conditions. All the utes finished in one piece with no damage, some very good driving.

RACE 2

The day went from wet to very wet. Again, AJ Gealy took out the win in the V8 Class, with Peter Clarke 2nd in the V8’s.

In the Production Class John Young held onto the win by the smallest margin over Craig Kasper. Troy Montgomerie and Mick McCloud followed not far behind.

A lot of sliding around and some great car control was on display and again on a wet track the utes impressed, and everyone made it home in one piece.

It was after the heavens opened up and the Lakeside track got 89mm of rain in 30-minute period and unfortunately the meet was suspended and that was all the racing that could be done.

A disappointing way to end the day but thats racing and now we look forward to next round at Qld Race way in June.

Huge thanks for our new series sponsor Premoza tyres for the support this year. These tyres are great in the wet and fast in the dry all that are using them have been very impressed with the new rubber.
