A very fast turnaround after round 4 of the DC Voltage Ute Racing Qld Championship at Qld Raceway we look forward to the final round of the year. This is when the championship will be decided for both V8 and Production Ute classes.

Round 4 was for some a weekend to forget about with just about everything that could go wrong did for half the field. We lost Graig Kasper with a engine detonation, Peter Clarke with a loose flywheel, Brendan Exner with a broken diff and even AJ didn’t want to be left out of the club and decided to spontaneously combust in race 1.

However, at the end of the day the cream did rise to the top with John Young taking out the round win in the Production Class with the perfect weekend of pole position and 5 wins from 5 starts.

In the V8’s Allan Hughes took out his very first round win in the V8 class! Winning more points than the other 2 FG Falcons and the VE Commodore.

Round 5 the decider !

Round 5 being the final round of the championship is also the double points round of the year just to keep everything interesting.

Production Utes

The championship leader John Young is in a very strong position to take out the title for 2023 but will need to finish every race in order to complete the job this year. In the minor places it is still wide open with Craig Kasper, Troy Montgomerie, Mick McCloud and Wayne Cook all being in the hunt for 2nd and 3rd place for the year. Reliability will be key this weekend and playing the long game will get the rewards.

V8 Utes

The V8 Championship has 14year old rookie AJ Gealy going into the last round with a small lead over 2nd place Brendan Exner. These 2 guys last time at lakeside drove hard and clean, and this weekend will be the same. Allan Hughes looks good for 3rd, Peter Clarke is looking to finish the season on a high after a disappointing year and is very long odds for a place against Allan but it’s a long shot.

Huge thanks to our season sponsor Dc Voltage for the support this year, and Valmont Coatings with the pole position award. Look forward to seeing everyone at the track this weekend at Lakeside. Its going to be a big one.
