Ute Racing is back at Qld raceway 22/23 Sept for Round 4 of the 2023 DC Voltage Ute Racing Qld championship.

Production Utes

A solid field of production utes are expected for round 4 and all of them chasing down the series leader John Young and his VZ Commodore. John didn’t have it all his own way last round at Lakeside having had a mechanical issue during the qualifying session that took him out of race 1. However, John did recover and took 4 wins from 5 starts. This extended his lead in the championship going into round 4.

We welcome a new driver in a familiar Ute in the form of Wayne Cook that takes the wheel of the ex Danny Ford BA Falcon. This ute is a proven package having championship wins with both previous owners ( no pressure Wayne ! )

If the sir name rings a bell yes Wayne is the brother of another Ute racing champion being Steve Cook, we expect Steve to also jump in the driver seat at some stage.

Joining Wayne will be Matt Becker in his Commodore that should be much improved after last round at lakeside. Troy Montgomerie will return with his BA Falcon and also Craig Kasper in another Commodore.

This will be a big weekend for the Production class and the racing will be something not to be missed.

V8 Utes

After round 3 it is clear that the V8 championship is a 2-horse race in 2023. It is a battle of youth vs experience between the 2 FG Falcon V8 utes of AJ Gealy and Brendan Exner. The racing between two drivers was something to be seen at Lakeside last round and this round will be nothing different.

Allan Hughes returns in his FG XR8 and after missing last couple of rounds doing DSO duties Peter Clarke will be back chasing a good result in the VE Commodore.

Worth noting that our youngest entry AJ Gealy in the V8 class will be pulling double duties by also running his Toyota 86 in the enduro at the same weekend. These 2 cars could not be further apart in power and handling so this will be quite the challenge for any driver let alone a 14 year old.

AJ continues to impress and is one to watch as he has a big future ahead of him in motorsport.

So come on down say hello to the Ute drivers everyone is always keen for a chat on a race meet.
