Round 1 of the DC Voltage Ute Racing Qld championship is only days away being run at Qld Raceway this coming weekend.
A solid field of Utes have entered the event with a mix of new and not so new drivers and utes and are ready to go.
First the new ! We welcome new entrants joining the series for the first time. Our young gun AJ Gealy in the ex Sieders FG V8 Falcon XR8 joins with the experienced racer Aaron King in the VE Holden V8 ute.
Also a first for the series is the Superute entry of Robert McMahon in his BT50 having his first hit out in prep for his national series debut. Which bring us to yet another first which is the Superute Vs Brute Ute, Production Ute and V8 series battle you will not see that anywhere else other than Qld Raceway this weekend.
Another new Ute livery is the VE V8 Holden of long time Production ute driver Peter Clarke who is trying out a change from Ford to Holden for the season.
However the main game where the hardest racing is had being the Production Ute Class we have our current champion Danny Ford returning going up against the Holdens of John Young and Craig Kasper.
In the Ford camp we have 2 drivers returning after sitting on the sideline for a season with both Scott Tamati and Troy Montgomerie ready to have a crack at the title this year.
With Brenden Exner returning to defend his V8 championship its big mix of Production Utes, V8 Utes, a Superute. New drivers , not so new drivers , a new track at QR that no one has ever raced. It will be a interesting weekend.
Also a new award for pole position from Valmont coatings so from the Qualy session it will be on !
See you at the track !
