With less than 8 weeks to go to the opening round of the Autobody Therapy Ute racing Qld series, it is shaping up to be the largest field of Utes that we have ever had since the humble beginnings with 3 competitors in 2016.
In the V8 Utes Scott Tamati is looking to go back to back championship wins in his FG Ford however with 5 new entries in this class the challenge this season will be hard fought. New entries with Brendan Exner stepping into a ex V8 series Ute, Simon Boss Walker in another V8 Falcon ex series ute as well as Kane Hope and Allan Hughes all in V8 powered Fords. However the HSV VE Maloo ute of Robert Mcmahon will be the wild card in this class to keep the Fords honest.
The Production 6cyl 2021 champion John Young will be defending his 2021 title against some old foes as well as 3 new rookies. With the balance of Ford V Holden in class starting to even out , expect some very close racing with Troy Montgomerie returning in his BA Falcon, Danny Ford in a BA Ford and Peter Clarke in a AU Ford. New Holdens of Brendan Lloyd , Craig Kasper and Matt Mundy will all be keen to show what they have on track. This will be a tight battle in the 6cyls.
First round is Lakeside Park on March 11/12th. The Dunlop control tyre is back ! so expect some faster lap times this year. The Utes will have the Hot Hatches for company on the grid and the combined grid is to be expected to around 20 plus with Utes and Hatches so expect action everywhere on track.
See you out there! Big thanks to our series sponsor Autobody Therapy for the ongoing support of this series
